  13. The SET echo is for the discussion of the Temple of Set and
  14. all topics related to Setian Philosophy.

  16. ========== Echo Rules ==========

  18. 1. Stay reasonably on topic (Setian philosophies, activities,
  19. organizations, researches, etc). Most occult topics are on topic. Most
  20. societal, scientific, and other topics are on topic if they relate even
  21. peripherally to Setians, Setian activity, or the Temple of Set.

  23. 2. Posts and topics which are permanently off topic are: proselytizing
  24. of any type; commercial ads and notices; attacks against Setians or the
  25. Temple of Set. The moderators are the sole judges of which messages
  26. may be off topic.
  27.  
  28. 3. Do not advertise your own shop, mail order service, or other
  29. business, even if run by Setians or catering to Setians and other
  30. occultists. The Temple of Set's _Crystal Tablet_ contains a "Resources"
  31. section in which businesses may be listed, if they perform a unique
  32. service. We also might consider maintaining a FReqable and FTPable
  33. file of resources in the future. Anyone interested in being included in
  34. that file or receiving that file can contact the moderators. (If an echo
  35. participant requests info about a product or service that you can
  36. provide, you can respond with information about your shop or service.)

  38. 4. Also do not advertise your BBS, though a brief notice that a BBS
  39. has linked to this conference is to be welcomed. (You certainly may
  40. respond with information concerning your BBS whenever you see
  41. someone asking about access to the echo in your geographic area of
  42. service.)

  44. 5. Leave the moderating to the moderator. This echo has historically
  45. needed almost no moderating, and we see no reason for this to change.
  46. Those who attempt to over-moderate the echo may find themselves
  47. moderated in turn.

  49. 6. Sarcasm, verbal jousting, antinomian posting, and other aggressive
  50. stances which may not be tolerated on other echoes are tolerated here,
  51. as long as they are on topic and not excessive (as determined by the
  52. moderator). Unwarranted attacks belie the Xeper of the poster, and
  53. will not be tolerated.

  55. 7. Handles or aliases are permitted [Balanone wouldn't have it any
  56. other way :-) ]. Whether any given computer system allows its users to
  57. employ handles in this echo is up to the administrator(s) of that
  58. system. If you use a handle or alias, please ensure that mail directed
  59. to that handle or alias will reach you.

  61. 8. English is the official language of this echo. While many Setians
  62. and others are more proficient in other languages, the majority of
  63. Setians (including the moderators) communicate best in English.
  64. When there are enough Setians to support an echo in an alternative
  65. language we'll gladly endorse establishment of that echo.

  67. 9. Please post in straight ASCII text. Please do not use ANSI controls
  68. or 8-bit ASCII characters in your post, as they tend to make messages
  69. less than legible on non-IBM-compatible systems.

  71. 10. Use common sense and common courtesy: Quote messages you are
  72. replying to so we see the context, but don't overquote. Don't post "test"
  73. messages here. Don't post the contents of files unless previously
  74. approved by the moderators. Do not post encrypted messages (this is a
  75. public echo, and all messages should be available to everyone). We
  76. don't mind reasonable multi-line signatures, but do keep them
  77. reasonable.

  79. 11. Do not gate this echo to any other network. If you would like this
  80. echo gated to another network, you may suggest this to the
  81. moderators, who may choose to work with that other network to
  82. establish the gateway. Messages may be cross-posted into other echoes and
  83. newsgroups, so long as they are on topic within that other area, and
  84. all information concerning the source of the message is posted with it.
